History
Sam left Avenue Bloodstock to set up Hurworth Bloodstock.
In March 2017, Sam was hired by John Ferguson to join the bloodstock department at Godolphin as a form analyst. In September 2017, Sam joined the revitalized John Ferguson Bloodstock which, along with Mark McStay & Amy Lanigan, evolved into Avenue Bloodstock in January 2018.
Sam left Paddy Power in September 2016 to assist parents William & Maureen Haggas at the UK & Irish yearling sales through the autumn/winter before leaving for New Zealand in January 2017 to shadow the Te Akau Racing team, headed by David Ellis, for the Karaka Yearling Sales.
Sam joined the horse racing team at industry-leading bookmaker Paddy Power in their Clonskeagh headquarters, starting as an in-running trader before progressing into an odds-compiler for horse racing.
Sam returned to the UK to assist jockey’s agent & form analyst Michael Haggas for the 2013 flat season. At the time, Michael Haggas was overseeing the bookings for world-class jockeys James Doyle & William Buick, as well as advising on form and race-planning for several of the UK’s leading trainers.
At the age of 19, Sam spent 6 months in Australia working placements with online bookmaker Tom Waterhouse, legendary racehorse trainer Gai Waterhouse and, latterly, rails bookmaker & professional punter Rob Waterhouse.
