LOOKING BACK ON HURWORTH BLOODSTOCK CORONATION CUP DAY

Last Friday saw Hurworth Bloodstock sponsor the Group 1 Coronation Cup, held at Newmarket for the first time since 1945. In Ghaiyyath (Dubawi x Nightime (Galileo)) we saw a hugely impressive winner, and a fantastic spectacle to boot. Many congratulations to winning owners Godolphin, winning trainer Charlie Appleby & winning jockey William Buick. Please enjoy some photos from the day taken by John Hoy (www.hoycubed.com):

Any Other News…?

The resumption of racing on June 1st has seen the return of the red-hot form for rookie trainer George Boughey, whose 5 runners since June 1st have finished 23121; George’s 2020 statistics read a 36% win-strike rate & a 77% first 3 strike-rate: the best achieved by any trainer in this country with 20+ runners for the year. His first winner since the resumption of racing was Three C’s (Kodiac x Ms Mary C (Dolphin Street)), whose 2 1/2 length win at Chelmsford brought his tally for 2020 to 4 wins, making him the joint-winningmost horse of 2020 in the UK. Hurworth Bloodstock teamed up with George to buy Three C’s privately in July 2019, and he will always be remembered as George’s first winner as a trainer, winning at Lingfield last August to jubilant scenes for The Dice Men, a great group of friends. Three C’s will bid for his 5th win of the year next week, either at Kempton or Chelmsford; there is plenty more to come from him !

George’s 2nd winner of the week came yesterday in the 4.45 at Newbury, when Involved (Havana Gold x Trick Or Treat (Lomitas)) took off in the closing stages to score by an easy 3 1/4 lengths in the 1m2f handicap under James Doyle, a performance that hinted strongly at there being plenty more to come. Involved was a Tattersalls Horses in Training Sale purchase in partnership with George last October, and very much looks a horse on the up, with the prospect of firmer ground and a step up in distance both factors that are sure to unlock further improvement going forward, making him a most attractive racing prospect for many a jurisdiction across the world. Whilst he is a 5 year old, Involved has had just 9 starts to date and looks set to make big progress this year; moreover, he is for sale !
